"Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind. These passions, like great winds, have blown me hither and thither, in a way ward course, over a deep ocean of anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair.
I have sought love, first, because it brings ecstasy... ecstasy so great that I would often have sacrificed all the rest of life for a few hours of that joy. I have sought it, next, because it relieved loneliness... that terrible loneliness in which one shivering consciousness looks over the rim of the world into the cold unfathomable lifeless abyss. I have sought it, finally, beacuse in the union of love I have seen, in a mystic miniature, the prefiguring vision of the heaven that saints and poets have imagined. This is what i sought, and thought it might seem too good for human life, this is what-at last-i have found."

lucky bastard.
as for the rest of us, the search continues...
Persevere, however, you may just eb one more heart break away from understanding that true nature of love and its consistant ruthlessness that spans beyond time.
It will suck you dry and leave you forlorn and burnt up like that last gob of charred plastic that can't even fully disintegrate.
who you are, what you achieve, your talents, your shorcomings, even the era you were concieved in are all inconsequential to this most diplomatic of all curses.
You don't even have to dig up a tomb or kill a snake or behead a witch to contract this curse, it will seek you out and it will drive you to your knees. And also to madness. An extraordinary kind. You ofcourse are no stranger to madness, maybe just maybe, love is the reason for yours too.
you can try though.
